They seem super similar, but they’ve got a few important differences.
If you want to get into the nitty-gritty:
Medical Marijuana Identification Card (MMIC)
A state-issued Medical Marijuana Identification card allows you to possess, grow, and transport marijuana within the state and purchase up to eight ounces of cannabis product per day.
Medical Marijuana Recommendation
A medical recommendation is a rec from a doctor for the medicinal use of cannabis for adults 18 years or older. Medical marijuana holders are legally entitled to purchase up to eight ounces of cannabis product per day.
So what’s the difference?
MMICs are backed by the state, which means MMIC holders don’t have to pay the 7.5% state tax on cannabis purchases.
The medical patient limit is:
-
8 ounces (224 grams) of cannabis flower and concentrates combined
